You have taken the plunge and are going to study as a student. You're ready to move out of the family home (or at least a little bit).
KOTWEST is the place where students and landlords meet. Surf quickly to www.kotwest.be and find everything you're looking for!
Be sure to include these super handy tips in your search:
1. Think before you start! Think carefully about renting a room! It will be your home for the coming years and should therefore be the place where you feel good. Are you social and would you like to live in a lively home? Then a room with a communal kitchen is ideal for you. If you are a real chef and your kitchen is your sanctuary, a studio might be a good choice for you. Find out what matters to you.
2. Search on time!. Start your search from the colleges' first info days at the end of February at the beginning of March, because the offer is limited. Often, hosts do not yet know which rooms will be available for the coming academic year. After the months of April/May, the landlord often has more clarity. So check KotWest.be regularly for updates.
3. Set your budget. On our website www.kotwest.be, you can find all the price information for each room. Note that, in addition to the basic rental price, a landlord can only charge the consumption costs of all utilities and telecommunications extra. All other costs must be included in the basic rental price. Determine your budget and make a selection on our database.
4. Choose your location. Do you like the dynamism of city life or are you a fan of big meadows, forests and cows? Do you like living close to campus or close to your friends? These questions also help determine your choice when it comes to finding a room. By the way, you have a handy search function on our website.
5. Visit the rooms. Never sign your rental agreement based on photos! Go see the room in real life, so you can better assess whether the room and the surroundings suit you. Visit multiple rooms and make a comparison.
6. Read the rental agreement carefully! It may sound obvious, but it is still important to read the offered rental agreement carefully. Have oral agreements and a location description written down to avoid later discussions. Also read the house rules carefully. Be sure to compare your rental agreement with our model rental agreement.
